Chess Ratings of Indian Players after the Candidates Chess tournament

  As the dust settles down after another wonderful tournament (stressful for the players), it is now time to take a peek at what happened to their ratings. Gukesh gains 20 points in the April 2024 ratings list and is now world no. 6 ahead of world champion Ding Liren, whom he will face in the World Championships finals in November-December. Pragg stays where he is in terms of points and Vidit loses 6 points. In the Women's section, Indian legend Koneru Humpy managed to stem the losses and sits at 2545. Vaishali's miraculous performance in the last five round helped her to climb back to 2489.

D Gukesh won the Candidates Chess tournaments and is now the official Challenger for the World Championship! After we witnessed a dramatic candidates tournament, many were left wondering what makes D Gukesh tick. Well there are really no secrets. We will list some important points in a few posts on this site. 1. Gukesh has always believed in following the process and enjoying it. What does this mean?  It means that he focuses on the now and what is to be done at the moment once his goals are set. He probably does not have to think too much about goals anyway because he is always either aiming at the No.1 spot in a tournament or in the world! So, what's left after that is simply to immerse himself in the details of all aspects of the game such as psychology, openings, middle game, and many other aspects. Even when the chips are down in a particular game, he still focuses on what is to be done to get out of a difficult situation. And, when he is winning, how not to get go of the vice...
