Nigel Short wins the Commonwealth Championships again

Nigel Short was crowned the 2008 Commonwealth Chess Champion at Nagpur, India. Surya Shekhar Ganguly finished second a half point behind. This was an amazing performance by Short considering the fact that he was beaten by a local kid in an earlier round.

World Junior Champion Abhijeet Gupta suffered in the early rounds and finished way behind in the points tally. D P Singh, who was involved in a huge controversy and accused of taking computer assistance some time back, finished on 8 points and above his expected score.

Leading Final Points Tally
